Due to popular demand, we're excited to open our nationally recognised Irchester Field School Learning Programme to home-educated learners on Wednesday 10th July 2024.

• Explore alongside experienced archaeologists from the University of Leicester.
• Learn from passionate staff and volunteers at The Chester House Estate (CHE) and the University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS).
• Uncover the secrets of the Roman town through a fun and educational program.
A Day of Discovery
This program aligns with the national curriculum and fosters a love for history and archaeology. For an in-depth overview please see our Irchester Field School Information Pack.
- Engage in interactive activities led by archaeologists and educators.
- Participate in four practical sessions:
- Archaeological Explorers: Unearth clues in the landscape.
- Archaeological Investigators: Clean and analyse archaeological finds.
- Archaeological Investigators: Discover and record hidden secrets.
- Archaeological Investigators: Uncover stories from everyday objects.
Timings:
- Please aim to arrive by 9:30.
- The programme will finish by14:15
- You will receive an itinerary of your activities at least 1 week before your visit.
Ticket Options:
- Please select the correct Key Stage your child is working at.
- Standard Ticket: Admission for one adult and one child.
- Additional Adult/Child Ticket: Purchase additional tickets for a single price. These must be purchased in addition to standard tickets.
What to bring:
- Suitable outdoor clothing for the forecasted weather (this event will run regardless of the weather)
- A Pencil
- Outdoor shoes (no heels or open-toe sandals)
- Packed lunch/water bottles
