Join us at The Chester House Estate for a summer filled with fun and adventure in nature! Every day throughout the summer holidays, we are offering a variety of engaging and educational activities designed to connect you with the great outdoors. From building dens to hunting for bugs, our activities are perfect for nature enthusiasts of all ages. Bring your family and friends to experience the beauty and wonder of nature while creating unforgettable memories.
We bring you a summer of fun in partnership with our friends at the Nene Rivers Trust.
Our friendly engagement team will be running activities throughout the morning and then repeated in the afternoon. You are welcome to arrive anytime after 10am, and take part in any activities in the morning or afternoon. There are also three self-led activities which you can do between the activities with our friendly team ... don't forget to save time for lunch and play on the adventure play area!
10:00 AM - 10:45 AM: Den Building and Bug Hunting
Gather branches, leaves, and other natural materials to create your very own woodland den. Simultaneously, explore the diverse habitats of The Chester House Estate and discover the fascinating world of insects. Learn about different species and their roles in the ecosystem.
10:45 AM - 11:30 AM: Nature Walk & Journey Stick
Join our guided nature walk to learn about the local flora and fauna. Collect natural items along the way to create a journey stick, a unique way to remember your adventure.
11:30 AM - 12:15 PM: Nature Art, Pebble Art, and Cress Art
Use natural materials such as leaves, twigs, and flowers to create beautiful pieces of art. Paint and decorate pebbles with your favourite designs and plant cress seeds in fun and imaginative designs. These activities encourage creativity and an appreciation for nature's beauty.
12:15 PM - 1:00 PM: Make a Watering Can
Get crafty and make your own watering can using recycled materials. This activity is perfect for young gardeners and helps promote sustainable practices.
1:00 PM - 1:45 PM: Den Building and Bug Hunting (Repeat)
Another opportunity to engage in den building and bug hunting for those who missed the morning session.
1:45 PM - 2:30 PM: Nature Walk & Journey Stick (Repeat)
Join a second guided nature walk and create another journey stick.
2:30 PM - 3:15 PM: Nature Art, Pebble Art, and Cress Art (Repeat)
A repeat session of the morning's creative activities for more chances to participate.
3:15 PM - 4:00 PM: Make a Watering Can (Repeat)
Another chance to make your own watering can using recycled materials.

Nature Scavenger Hunt
Embark on an exciting scavenger hunt around the estate at your own pace. Follow clues, solve puzzles, and discover hidden treasures while learning about the natural world.
Nature Meditation
Find a peaceful spot on the estate and practice mindfulness and meditation. Connect with your surroundings and enjoy the serene ambiance.
Pooh Sticks
Find the perfect stick, drop it into the River Nene, and see whose stick emerges first on the other side. Enjoy this classic game at any time throughout the day. Adult supervision on the bridge is vital.
